Speedway Handmade Bicycle Works is CLOSING

September 1st, 2011 by Don Walker

Speedway Handmade Bicycles Works is CLOSING. While I have enjoyed serving the Speedway and West Side of Indianapolis’ cycling community for the past 3 + years, I have decided to make some changes in my life. My wife Lesley and I have bought a home in Louisville, Kentucky and we will be relocating as of October 15th. The last business day for SHBW will be September 24th, when we will be hosting a Farewell Party.

It is my pleasure to invite you to this party, Noon – 6 PM. on September 24th at SHBW, 1432 Main Street, Speedway, IN 46224

In creating SHBW, I have succeeded in my goals of challenging myself to open/own a bicycle shop, be a member of the local business community and to provide a service to an area that needed my expertise, but ultimately my goals have changed dramatically. For reasons of family and health, I now would rather work from home, without keeping set hours, which will allow me to more frequently pursue my passion of riding bicycles and get back into a healthy, lighter, stronger being.

I will miss many of the relationships I have forged with Speedway locals, and to these people my door in Louisville will always be open.

Even though the retail shop is closing, Don Walker Cycles will still continue to produce the finest quality handmade bicycles, its just going to take us a month to get up and running from the date of move. My cell phone number will continue to be 317-640-2566 for the remainder of this year and through the Sacramento NAHBS show.

Lesley and I wish the city of Speedway well in its pursuits of redevelopment and we will miss the sound and sights of May.

Sincerely,

Don Walker
